Sales is the only job in the world where you can fail 95% of the time and still be a major success!
We coach people to make 100 sales calls a day and with our training those 100 calls tend to turn into at least 5 appointments.
Imagine if you made 5 appointments in a day? Would you be happy? No doubt the answer is “Yes”. Well to achieve those 5 appointments you need to make sure you go out and fail 95% of the time. Ever imagined what it would be like to be in a job where you’re rewarded for failure? If you’re in a sales position then you’ve landed that dream post!
Better still if you increase your selling skills and learn to fail just 90% of the time, your success doubles! That’s right, a 5% improvement in your skills can lead to a 100% improvement in results. Let’s put this in context: If you were making 5 appointments out of 100 calls by failing 95% of the time then simple maths show that by failing 90% of the time the number of appointments you make rises to 10. A 100% increase in success.
Accept that you will get no’s. Mentally frame your role to accept that you are working to get no’s 90% of the time. Welcome those no’s with open arms. Feel happy that you are clearing out the no’s to get closer to those 10% yes’s! Set a daily chart to count down the no’s and tick them off as you get through them. Draw a smiley face on your chart every time you get a no and count them off. Don’t over evaluate the no’s, learn from them quickly and then move on. Use the same “10 second rule” that Tiger Woods applies to his game. As soon as he plays a shot he gives himself no more than 10 seconds to have an emotional reaction – and then gets over it and moves on. Try the same approach when dealing with your “no”‘s.
